October meeting Update from AIR Sydney Hills Branch

Our October meeting for 2024 was held on Friday morning October 4th 2024 at Beecroft Presbyterian Church Hall at 10:30 for a 10:45 start. The Investors presentation followed at 12:30pm after refreshments.

10:45am: Introduction to AI from a personal perspective.

Our very own Chris Tham presented an interactive talk on AI, focusing on Generative AI, based on her personal experiences and perspective. Along the way, she explained how AI actually works in a non-technical way that anyone can grasp. Chris will conclude by sharing her thoughts on how AI will impact the future and what it means for humanity.

12:30pm: Discussion: Key Financial Challenges in retirement.

Wayne Strandquist led a financial discussion on Financial Challenges in Retirement. Members & visitors provided their perspective & experience on any financial concerns for fully and partly self-funded retirees, such as:

• Fear of Running Out (Will my retirement savings run out before I do?)
• Am I spending too little or too much in retirement? How do I improve my spending habits?
• Inflation (Cost of Living is increasing faster than my income)?
• What happens if I still have debt when I retire?
• How do increase my retirement income?
• Have I got the right diversification of retirement investments?
• Am I paying too much tax in retirement?
